David Singer, who played in his first WSOP in 1983, has finally captured his first WSOP bracelet. Singer won the coveted bracelet as well as a $214,122 prize in the $1,500 buy-in Pot-limit Hold’em Event 3. Singer has cashed 18 times in WSOP events with over $1 million in total WSOP earnings.
Singer disappeared from the poker scene in the 1990s but reappeared in the 2003 WSOP where he cashed three times. Singer’s most recent claim to fame is as the winner of the Full Tilt Poker’s $25,000 Heads-up Poker Championship.
Congratulations David on your first, and very well-deserved, WSOP bracelet!

The Full Tilt Poker $25,000 Heads-up Poker Championship was played online on 5/24. Poker pro David Singer outlasted the field of 64 players to take home the $560,000 first place prize. This was the first time Full Tilt has sponsored a Heads-up Championship and big name players Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer and 2008 National Heads-up Poker Champion Chris Ferguson took part in the event.
According to the Full Tilt Poker News: “Singer claimed victory after defeating Emil “whitelime” Patel in the event’s final heads-up match when his pocket 8s stood up against whitelime’s 10-3 off-suit.” Due to the success of this event, The Fabulous Poker King is predicting that this will become an annual event.

On May 24, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will be hosting the $25,000 buy-in Heads-Up Championship tournament. This tournament is limited to 64 players and has already drawn quite a star-studded list of entrants. Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman and Chris Ferguson are just a few of the top pros that have registered. In addition, online phenom Tom Dwan will also be battling it out in the Full Tilt Poker tournament.
Fans of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship that has been airing recently on NBC may recognize Dwan as he played against Phil Hellmuth in the first round. On the third hand, Dwan woke up with pocket tens while Hellmuth held the coveted pocket aces. In typical aggressive-playing style, both players were all-in before the flop. Dwan hit a set on the turn and that marked the end of Hellmuth’s 2008 National Heads-Up Poker Championship bid but sent Hellmuth into the stratosphere.
Whether you plan to play in Full Tilt Poker’s $25k Heads-Up Championship or just ride the virtual rail, make sure you’re logged on for the 3:00 pm Eastern start time on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Poker Mom won’t be playing but I plan on watching!
