Steve Chung Bursts the Bubble at 2008 WSOP Main Event

Published by pokermom at 8:10 pm under World Series of Poker (WSOP) Edit This

Steve Chung took 667th place in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event.  What is the significance of this you may ask?  Well, the 2008 WSOP Main Event pays the top 666 players.  Steve Chung went out on the bubble with a pair of pocket eights that run up against a pocket pair of kings.  Although Chung didn’t cash in the 2008 WSOP Main Event, he did receive a complimentary buy-in to the 2009 WSOP Main Event courtesy of Milwaukee’s Best Light.

The buy-in to the Main Event is $10,000 and the player that goes out in 666th place will receive $21,230.  The poor player that went out in 668th place was sent to the rail with nothing.

Today’s players went to the dinner break with only 94 of the original 6,844 entrants remaining.  Phil Hellmuth is sitting on $1.28 million in chips, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow has $650,000 in chips and Kido Pham has $590,000.  The current chip leader is Nikolay Losey with $3.5 million.
